Saving Money Made Easy: A Beginner’s Guide to Using Ibotta

If you’re looking to save money on your grocery bill, you may want to try Ibotta. Ibotta is a cashback app that offers rebates on purchases made at grocery stores, drug stores, and other retailers. With Ibotta, you can save money on everyday purchases without having to clip coupons or search for deals. In this post, we’ll take a look at how to sign up and use Ibotta, so you can start saving money today.

How to Sign Up

To sign up for Ibotta, you’ll need to download the app from the App Store or Google Play. Once you’ve downloaded the app, open it up and create an account. You can sign up with your Facebook account, your Google account, or your email address.

After you’ve created an account, you’ll need to link it to your preferred payment method. Ibotta supports PayPal, Venmo, and gift cards. You’ll also need to provide some basic information, such as your name and address.

How to Use Ibotta

Using Ibotta is easy. Here’s how it works:

  1. Before you go shopping, open the Ibotta app and browse the available rebates. You can search for rebates by store, category, or product.
  2. Once you’ve found a rebate you want to use, add it to your list by tapping the plus sign next to the rebate.
  3. Go shopping as you normally would. When you get home, take a picture of your receipt and upload it to the Ibotta app. You can also link your loyalty card to Ibotta to automatically redeem rebates.
  4. Ibotta will verify your purchase and credit your account with the rebate amount. Once you’ve reached a minimum of $20 in your account, you can cash out your earnings.

Tips for Using Ibotta

Here are some tips to help you get the most out of Ibotta:

  1. Check Ibotta before you go shopping. Rebates change frequently, so make sure you’re up-to-date on the latest deals.
  2. Combine rebates with coupons and other discounts to maximize your savings.
  3. Take advantage of bonuses. Ibotta often offers bonuses for redeeming a certain number of rebates or for buying a certain combination of products.
  4. Use Ibotta for online shopping. You can earn cashback on purchases made through the Ibotta app at certain retailers.

Conclusion

Five Frugal Things Week of October 1st

Contests and Banking

I like to enter contests for fun. While I don’t enter as much as I use to, I still fit some entries every day waiting in line or watching TV. This week I won a trip for two to the Sundance Film Festival! I had to get the affidavit and publicity release notarized within a few days. Luckily, my bank notarizes member’s documents for free. I was able to get an appointment by the deadline and my guest was able to scan in all the documents for free at work.

Stocking Up Sale

Whenever I stop by the grocery store, I check the clearance meat section. There was a bunch of pork and beef already on sale and clearanced out 50% off. Turns out I clipped a personalized deal on the pork earlier in the week and forgot about it so only paid 98 cents a pound. It took a while but I vacuum sealed them when I got home and stacked them in the deep freeze. I only cook red meat during the weekends so even though this stock up cost me about $80, it should last me a few months. When it comes time to cook them, I toss them in a sous vide cooker for several hours so even the cheapest cuts come out delicious!

Focus Group Fun

I participated in a focus group through User Research International on my day off. It only took two hours and I made $100. It was actually pretty fun and the interviewers said the feedback I gave was very useful. It put me in the same town as my favorite brewery so I enjoyed a new beer before finishing off errands.

Delaying Big Purchases

I held off ordering a textbook until after the first day of class. Found out I could get the online access code for $20 cheaper if I bought it straight from the manufacturer instead of the campus bookstore. Don’t get me wrong, it was still more than I would have liked to pay for a book I don’t get access to after the course but I still rather save on it.

Cashback on DIY

SO needed a zipper repaired on his favorite pair of jeans. He found a set of replacements on eBay so I reminded him to go through Ibotta to make sure he got cashback. Turned out that he had a bonus for $6 back after redeeming one mobile shopping offer.

Impact of Facebook Reaction Buttons on Social Marketing

facebook-l

Like it or not, Facebook users can now do more than “like” posts. They will be able to love them and express sympathy, anger or sadness with animated emoticons.

The six new buttons appear as animated emoticons and pop up when the “like” button is long-pressed. “Dislike,” however, is still not an option. This likely due to fear of causing cyberbullying or negativity on Facebook.

Uses of the emoticon is already widespread, with users showing their true feelings on corporate posts. Moving forward, companies will need to walk  an even tighter line to prevent visible public disapproval.

GSI Exchange Gold Rush Giveaway – ends 2/28

gold giveaway.png

Gold has been a symbol of wealth for centuries.  Gold is a high-quality, liquid asset that can be used to protect global purchasing power, reduce portfolio volatility and minimize losses during periods of financial and economic crisis.  Investors recognize gold’s lack of correlation with other assets to diversify their portfolios and hedge against currency risk.

Investors have several ways to add precious metals to a diversified investment portfolio.

Bullion coins are minted from precious metals, usually gold or silver, and bought for investment purposes from major banks, coin dealers, brokerage firms, and precious metal dealers.  Their value is based on their gold or silver bullion content.  Prices fluctuate daily, depending on the price of gold and silver in the world markets.

Whether you are planning for retirement, worried about inflation or simply looking to diversify your investments with a tangible physical asset, precious metals are known to hold value even during the most challenging financial times.

Concerns about falling oil prices, slower growth in China and other economic factors have contributed to a sharp decline in the stock markets to start the New Year, but Gold has been a bright spot to an otherwise gloomy financial forecast.   On Thursday, February 11, 2016, gold jumped $53.20 an ounce to $1,247.80, the highest price since February 2015 and an 18 percent jump since the start of 2016.

GSI Exchange’s main focus is to offer the highest-quality silver, gold, palladium and platinum coins at the most competitive prices.

GSI Exchange is an industry leader with a reputation for having better prices, better inventory, and better buybacks than other investment companies.  With more than $1 billion in commodities and precious metals transactions around the world and membership with the prestigious Industry Council for Tangible Assets (ICTA), the American Numismatic Association (ANA), Professional Coin Grading Systems (PCGS), and Numismatic Guaranty Company (NGC), GSI Exchange offer clients a complete range of customized precious metals portfolios and unique “Physical Possession” precious metals IRAs (Individual Retirement Accounts).
